SAN ANGELO, TX – Fifteen individuals from ten different countries officially became US citizens today during a naturalization hearing at San Angelo's federal courthouse.
The naturalization ceremony warmly welcomed individuals from various corners of the globe, including Nepal, Fiji, India, and Mexico. Magistrate Judge James R. Parker, presiding over the Northern District Court, administered the oath of allegiance to the crowd and offered them words of encouragement.
In his address, Judge Parker emphasized that they were now Americans. However, he also encouraged them not to forget their culture, history, language, or ideas. He emphasized that being American means embracing and integrating all cultures into a unified whole.
This ceremony marked the first of two being held on June 21.
