SAN ANGELO, TX —Water was gushing out of the front of the nightclub late Monday afternoon while hoses from the San Angelo Fire Department led inside. A witness on the street said the fire was the “real deal!”
Chadbourne Street between Beauregard and Twohig was closed as firefighters worked the blaze. Other than the massive amount of water running down the street and the abundance of firetrucks and firefighters, there were no other visible signs of the fire — such as flames.
One of the owners, Tony Hunter, told our reporter at the scene that it was just “smoke in the building” and “lots of smoke.” It turned out to be coming from the electrical panel, Hunter said. The smoke and possibly heat set off the sprinkler fire suppression system adding to the water damage.
Meanwhile, the winds were gusting past 30 mph kicking up dust and debris everywhere.
The call for the fire happened just before 6 p.m. on June 19, 2023. Until the area is cleared this part of downtown should be avoided.
