ASU Women's Soccer Program Receives Quarter Million Dollar Gift

SAN ANGELO- The Angelo State University Rambelles Soccer team has received a gift to establish an endowment to benefit the soccer program.

Information released by ASU reads that Angelo State University has received a $250,000 gift from an anonymous group of supporters to establish a new endowment specifically to benefit the ASU women's soccer program.

The ASU Belles Soccer Endowment will provide funding to support many different aspects of the soccer program, including travel, uniforms, equipment, student-athlete support services and more.

The original donor group provided the lead $250,000 gift with the goal that additional donors will join them in the drive to build the endowment to $1 million.

"What a wonderful surprise this is for our soccer program," said Head Coach Travis McCorkle. "I already knew that we had awesome fans, but this generosity really goes above and beyond. The endowment will have a tremendous impact on Rambelles soccer for many years to come, and it will certainly help us continue to attract outstanding student-athletes to proudly represent the ASU Ram Family on the soccer field."

"We are incredibly grateful to everyone who contributed to the endowment," he added, "as well as to those who will contribute in the future."

The new endowment was originally announced Oct. 25 at halftime of the Belles' final regular-season home match against St. Edward's University at the ASU Soccer Complex. The Belles beat the Hilltoppers, 2-1, and goalkeeper Kira Miller of Frisco set a new ASU record for career saves in the second half.

With just one match remaining in the regular season, the Belles sit at 13-2-2 overall and in second place in the Lone Star Conference at 8-2-1. They are primed for another postseason run, starting with the LSC Tournament Nov. 1-6.

Since 2010, the Belles have won seven LSC regular-season and tournament titles and advanced to the NCAA Division II Tournament seven times. Numerous players have earned All-LSC, All-South Central Region and All-America honors, and McCorkle is a five-time LSC Coach of the Year. The entire coaching staff was named NCAA D-II National Coaching Staff of the Year in 2020 by the United Soccer Coaches (USC) organization following ASU's first-ever undefeated season.
