GOODFELLOW AFB – Goodfellow Air Force Base held a memorial service Friday for fallen United States Marine Staff Sgt. Bryce Rudisell.
As we reported last week, Rudisell died from wounds sustained in a fight in the parking lot of the Whiskey River Saloon in downtown San Angelo.
According to Goodfellow, "The 17th Training Wing and San Angelo are deeply saddened by this tragedy," said Col. Matthew Reilman, 17th Training Wing commander. "Staff Sgt. Rudisell was an essential member of our 17th Training Wing and Joint Service family, he will be sincerely missed and his tragic death is being felt all across our wing. Please keep his family, friends and our teammates in your thoughts and prayers."
On October 2, 2022, an investigator with the San Angelo Police Department responded to Shannon Medical Center, located at 120 East Harris regarding several stabbing victims. Once at the hospital, the investigator learned that the stabbing and fight occurred at Whiskey River Saloon, located 125 East Concho Avenue. It was also learned that one victim, a U.S. Marine, had been killed from a knife wound to his chest from an altercation in the parking lot of the bar. On Monday, it was revealed that federal law enforcement has been called in to investigate the stabbing death of Bryce Rudisell.
Staff Sgt. Rudisell was a fire training instructor at the Louis F. Garland DoD Fire Academy and assigned to MCD Goodfellow, and was killed Oct. 2, in San Angelo, Texas. Staff Sgt. Rudisell was posthumously promoted to Staff Sgt. during the memorial service.
