SAN ANGELO – Sammy Farmer’s son, Bill Farmer, is battling cancer and his family and community is putting on a benefit Saturday and Sunday at the Spur Arena to help Bill’s battle.
Tara Kelley sat in with San Angelo LIVE!’s Joe Hyde to talk about her brother Bill and his fight against cancer.
“He’s an amazing man, first of all,” Kelley said, “In March, he was diagnosed with colon and liver cancer all at once. They actually found it first in his liver and it had already moved from somewhere and found it in his colon. He’s doing remarkable and he’s had some great improvement. We believe he’s going to be healed.”
To help Bill with his fight against cancer, this weekend, the Benefit for Bill Farmer is taking place at the Spur Arena where there will be auctions, roping, and a BBQ cookoff.
“Number one, we want to have fun,” Kelley said, “We want people to come see Bill and just have a good weekend.”
They will have a team roping, a live and silent auction that is already on Facebook. Also, there will be 15 professional cookoff teams making brisket, beans, ribs, and chicken. Anyone can buy a plate as well.
“That’s going to be the lunch on Saturday,” Kelley said, “We said do what you want to do. Some of these guys are really creative and they cook amazing. So some of them are going to have poppers, some of them are going to have chicken legs and wings, some will have sausage. We don’t even know.”
BBQ plates will only cost a donation too and everyone will get a chance to vote.
