San Angelo Officials Help Celebrate 100th Birthday of Special San Angelo Resident

SAN ANGELO, TX – Marie Starks, a soon to be a 100-year-old San Angelo resident, celebrated her historic milestone with some of San Angelo's finest on Thursday afternoon.

The birthday celebration was attended by a number of local figures including Mayor Brenda Gunter, Pastor Craig Meyers and his wife Sally Meyers, and Marie's favorite guest the San Angelo Police Chief himself Frank Carter.

Carter and Marie had a great relationship after years of visiting Marie.

"I've known her for years," said Carter. "She would always be sitting on her porch on 17th street."

Carter explained that he was very excited for the lunch since their relationship was put on hold due to COVID-19 restrictions in nursing homes.

Marie was also pleased to see Brenda Gunter the Mayor of San Angelo and owner of Miss Hatties. Check out photos from the event below:

Marie will officially turn 100 on Apr. 9 but the group chose to begin the celebration on Thursday. Marie is expected to have a bigger celebration on her birthday.
