San Angelo Nature Center Beloved Python Dies After 20 Plus Years

SAN ANGELO, TX – The City of San Angelo confirmed last Friday that the python at the nature center has passed away.

The following is a statement from COSA:

Baby, the Nature Center’s famous Burmese python, passed away Feb. 21.

Although we don’t have the official year that Baby arrived at the Nature Center, stories from citizens recanting school field trips to the center with Baby there would put her at about 25 years old.

She was 17 feet long, 100 pounds and incredibly docile. It always took three staff members to remove her from her enclosure to let her roam around for some supervised exercise.

Baby also enjoyed baking under her heat lamp and yawning for customers. She was part of many memories made at the Nature Center and will be very missed.

Rest in peace, Baby.
