City of San Angelo Activates Out of the Cold Program for the Homeless Before Winter Storm

SAN ANGELO, TX – With the dangerous winter storm expected to hit on Wednesday, the City of San Angelo began preparing options for the City's homeless residents.

According to Neighborhood Services Director Bob Salas, beginning Feb. 1, the Homeless Coalition will activate the Out of the Cold program.

This program provides homeless individuals and families with a warm place for the night and a meal voucher when the temperature is 35 degrees or colder.

Those without homes who are interested in participating must meet at the Salvation Army San Angelo church area (122 West 2nd St.) by 4:30 p.m. when the temperature is anticipated to drop to 35 degrees or lower.

The program is in place today. For more information, call Stan Carr at the Salvation Army at 214-417-3128.
