Concho Valley Homeless Coalition to Count Local Homeless Thursday

SAN ANGELO, TX – The Concho Valley Homeless Planning Coalition will be conducting their 2022 Point-in-Time (PIT) Count on Thursday, January 27th. The Concho Valley Homeless Planning Coalition is an independent group of area agencies designed to specifically target the housing crisis in our city.

The PIT Count is an event where communities across the nation go out and take a census of sheltered and unsheltered homeless individuals they have in their community. The PIT Count serves as a baseline for state and federal support for addressing the needs of the homeless community.

“The Concho Valley Homeless Planning Coalition is excited to engage in this year’s PIT Count. After taking a year off for COVID, this year’s count is especially crucial so that we can accurately determine the resources needed to serve our homeless neighbors,” said Bob Salas, Director of Neighborhood and Community Services with the City of San Angelo and Concho Valley Homeless Planning Coalition Chair.

On Thursday, January 27th, volunteers on three different shifts will disperse in teams to various homeless hot spots and meal locations, such as along the Concho River and at Rust St. Ministries. The first shift will be from 5am-8am, the middle shift will be from 10am-1pm, and the last shift will be from 6pm-9pm.

“The San Angelo community is eager to find solutions to the housing crisis facing our neighbors and how we can work toward permanent housing solutions for our neighbors that are struggling to find and maintain housing. We have seen this in tremendous community involvement and the generosity of area agencies and businesses to make this count a success,” said Sidney Timmer, Outreach and Development Manager at Concho Valley Community Action Agency.

Thanks to the generosity of area agencies, churches, and businesses our homelessness neighbors will be given a bag of street essentials for participating in the count.

Additionally, thanks to the participation of community volunteers this year’s count will include three different count times, in years past the count was limited to the dinner time count.

I say do the count, then build a giant low income apartment complex with +20% capacity as close to bentwood as they can. Lets see the pearl clutching from so called "christians".

So hateful! Meanwhile, back at our southern border, Biden ushering in a whole new working class of individuals…many of them requiring assistance themselves.

What effect will that have on the poor my guess is it’s not going to be good ;)

ME Someone, Thu, 01/27/2022 - 10:58

I love it when you change the subject to something completely unrelated because you have no real valid argument.

Biden said not to come here and is still using trumps policies, the only thing he really got rid of was the wall.

and when he said "surge the border" he was talking specifically about those that are seeking asylum, which is legal immigration,

You republicans are just inflating the issue because you have to have something to gripe about and that is what the people that control you are telling you to say. Remember trump had a surge in 2019 that you said nothing about and ignored.

ME Someone, Thu, 01/27/2022 - 11:00

We get it, you hate your fellow Americans that are poor, you have made that perfectly clear several times.

I want to help all Americans, but republicans only want to help those who can do something for them back.

ME Someone, Thu, 01/27/2022 - 11:35

Yes, I know republicans are selfish and self centered, but there are more people in the world than just you. Not everything revolves around you, I think you need to hear that.

I donate to the poor and you?

We get it (lol) As long as it’s OPM then you’re perfectly fine with it. The REALITY is, like I explained, only a limited amount of resources available as it is ;)

ME Someone, Thu, 01/27/2022 - 12:17

So the poor have to suffer because you think that there are a limited amount of resources? So you are just proving my point that you hate Americans that are poor.

Grow up. In the meantime, you should consider donating to the poor and I’ll do the same. Deal?

ME Someone, Thu, 01/27/2022 - 12:37

" you should consider donating to the poor and I’ll do the same."

CONSIDER? So you were lying when you said you donate? CAUGHT YOU.

You would have to take a picture of the receipt with a timestamp and post it here for proof. In fact you should do that now since you already said you donate. But we all know you won't because you are just making things up.

ME Someone, Thu, 01/27/2022 - 13:12

Thought so, caught you in yet another lie.

Gotta wonder why republicans have to lie to even attempt to have a point?

ME Someone, Thu, 01/27/2022 - 15:38

Yeah, I didn't think you had anything.

“The problem with socialism is you eventually run out of other people’s money”.

ME Someone, Thu, 01/27/2022 - 15:38

I thought we fought the british for our freedom? Now you are quoting them in a situation where it doesn't even make sense to distract from the fact that you lied about helping the poor. Next you will quote marxist literature, as you have done before, unironically. That's republicans for you.

What, and be as specific as possible, has the democrats proposed (or done) that is "socialist"?

And, in your own words, define "socialism".

If you refuse to answer we will know that you have no idea what you talking about, like every other time I have asked you these questions.

Again I donate to the poor and you?

As for “socialism”…most referred to as “democratic socialist” which is simply a watered down version involving so-called “public/private partnerships” with the federal government picking the winners and the losers ;)

ME Someone, Fri, 01/28/2022 - 12:35

You said you would "consider" donating if I did. Why do you lie so much.

"socialism" is the collective ownership of the means of production. Where the workers own the businesses basically. There are no "private partnerships" only "public ownership". It directly contrasts with "marxism" which you also call it. You have proven you have no idea what you are talking about, as I knew you would.

"democratic socialism" is also in direct contrast to "authoritarian socialism"

“Where the workers own the business basically”

OMG what an ignorant dipstick no wonder you believe what you believe lol

ME Someone, Fri, 01/28/2022 - 14:36

Didn't I just prove that I don't know what socialism even is? How can I want a "socialist utopia" like you say, if I don't even know what socialism is?

ME Someone, Fri, 01/28/2022 - 14:39

Trump can't even run a business as he has declared bankruptcy multiple times, yet you think he can run a country? He proved he couldn't with the recession we had under him in 2020.

Sounds benign I know but it’s not!

The frog has no idea he’s being cooked when he’s thrown into the slow boiling pot, he just thinks he’s getting a warm bath ;)

ME Someone, Fri, 01/28/2022 - 12:29

That's a myth and completely untrue. A frog will jump out. You don't even know what you are talking about.

Sad but true.

Most of these so called homeless folks are the result of sleepy joes failed drug infused border crisis.

Most of these people are strung out on the poisons that these future sleep joe voters are bringing into our country.

Its really sad most of these folks have lost their self respect and dignity to these poisons.

ME Someone, Sat, 01/29/2022 - 17:11

"Most of these so called homeless folks are the result of sleepy joes failed drug infused border crisis."

So all of the homeless people have become homeless in the last year? That's hilarious you actually believe that.

It would be more accurate to say that the people that have become homeless in the last year are the result of trumps recession we had under him in 2020.

MeMe…let me explain it to then since you apparently have no clue what you’re talking about. Socialism is where the means of production is owned/controlled by the government NOT the “workers”. It is “progressive” so it usually happens over time…and obviously different degrees (ie democratic socialism which is where I believe we are headed) depending on how much ownership/control the government has.

Marxism, on the other hand, is an ideology which pits the “working class” (again not in any way shape or form the “owners of the businesses”) against the “ownership class”…the ACTUAL owners of the businesses who they see as inherently evil ;)

ME Someone, Sat, 01/29/2022 - 17:07

Post a link to where you received you information.

Also, what "steps" have been taken that will end up with the government owning the "means of production"? You say we are headed there and that it is "progressive", so what has happened, what laws/legislation have been passed, or what has been talked about that leads you to believe that is where the US is headed? Please be as specific as possible, don't just answer with "because the demolibs are socialist" give me a real answer instead of sidestepping the question, please.

How is it that right wing people can be so tedious & yet enjoy cruelty as much as they do?  You would think such obvious cognitive dissonance, selfishness, & willful ignorance would at least be a tiny bit entertaining. Instead, it's just completely dull, hateful gibberish.  This aggressive, know-nothing rude barbarism serves no one except the grifters that you slavishly adore & you'll never figure it out.  You don't have the capacity between your deaf ears.
