San Angelo City Council to Consult with Attorney Over Sanctuary City for the Unborn

SAN ANGELO, TX –– On Saturday morning, San Angeloans will gather in front of the San Angelo City Hall to protest the movement aiming to make San Angelo a Sanctuary City for the Unborn.

Several weeks ago, Mayor Brenda Gunter announced the city would seek to follow Lubbock's example and put the issue on the ballot –– a move pro-life advocates strongly oppose. They argue the city council should approve an ordinance without waiting for a vote from the public.

During next Tuesday's meeting, the council will meet with attorneys to discuss the issue during a closed session.

The possibility of designating San Angelo as a sanctuary city has become a contentious issue –– especially during the last city council meeting. Both advocates and critics spoke up during the public comment section as both sides fiercely advocated their positions.

The march will begin at City Hall at 9:00 a.m. and make its way to the courthouse and back again. The event, which is being organized by the Women’s March San Angelo group, will advocate for the right to bodily autonomy and accessible options.  The march is being held in observation of the national Women's March.

If the baby isn’t a life, then why are people that kill pregnant women charged with double homicide? The law covers the whole pregnancy with the term “in utero.”

Public Law 108-212

‘‘Sec.
‘‘1841. Protection of unborn children.
‘‘§ 1841. Protection of unborn children

Seeing as how the state of Texas is currently a sanctuary for the unborn, declaring the city as one seems redundant. Just one group imposing their morality on the others.

It's just another way our idiot mayor and city council can find ways to waste taxpayer dollars. They could instead use that money to recondition the streets in San Angelo. They're currently in worse shape than they've ever been.

Btw in Texas you must have a valid Texas ID to purchase a firearm, and be able to pass a federal background check and until September 1 of this year had to have another separate license to carry it in public. You've now lost all credibility here since you just let hot air pass through your lips with every post.
