Road Reconstruction on Busy Intersection Begins Thursday

SAN ANGELO, TX – Road crews will begin reconstructing the intersection of Southland Blvd. and Southwest Blvd. Thursday according to information from the city of San Angelo.

Reconstruction work will begin Thursday, July 22, at the Southwest and Southland intersection. Traffic on Southwest will be moved to the northbound lanes and traffic on Southland will be moved to either east or westbound lanes.

Southwest Blvd. over the Red Arroyo next to McDonald's continues to be closed to traffic while crews rebuild the roadway.

The estimated completion time for each quadrant is three weeks, pending any potential weather delays. The intersection will be fully reconstructed using concrete pavement. The contractor on the Southwest Boulevard project is Reece Albert Inc.

The two year project of reconstructing Southwest Blvd. from Twin Mountain Dr. to Loop 306 is part of a ten year, $80 million plan.  MLK Blvd. and Bell St. reconstruction projects are part of the plan and College Hills Blvd. is in the planning stage at this time.

As we reported earlier, the city is planning on reconstructing other streets as well.
