San Angelo Fire Department Warns Citizens about Fireworks

SAN ANGELO,TX – The San Angelo Fire Department is warning people to leave the fireworks to the professionals on Independence Day.

Chris Christian, a Fire Inspector for the SAFD, says there are risks to igniting fireworks that include citations from police, starting a fire on someone’s property, and even serious injuries.

Christian has seen enough injuries due to fireworks and wants the public to leave it up to professional pyrotechnicians.

“You really can’t have them in the city limits to begin with. So, either it’s going to end in by an injury, fire damage to property, or you’ll end up writing in the citation for fireworks in the city limits.” Christian said.

As for the people who will set them off at their houses, Christian warns against doing that as you may set fire to your property or your neighbor’s property.

Fireworks are illegal inside the San Angelo city limits and that does include Lake Nasworthy.

As luck would have it, there will be plenty of safe firework fun coming this 4th of July weekend.

On Saturday, July 3rd, San Angelo LIVE! Will be hosting the Star-Spangled Banner Concert and Firework Show at the Bill Aylor Sr. Memorial River Stage in downtown San Angelo. The gates will open at noon and the music starts at 6:30 p.m.

I'm sure that took care of the problem and all the fireworks stands will go bankrupt because nobody will be buying fireworks this year.........
