City Set to Award New Streets Sealcoat Contract

SAN ANGELO, TX — The City of San Angelo is set to award a $1.5 million streets sealcoat contract to a New Braunfels company, F.N. Ploch Construction. Sealcoating of the city streets is a periodic maintenance function that increases the longevity of the pavement by alleviating most water penetration, preserving the base material. It is a thin layer of liquid asphalt put down with a layer of coated rock.

The ongoing sealcoating of the streets is a part of the 2014 comprehensive street maintenance schedule designed over eight years.

According to the City, three bids were received and F.N. Ploch Construction Company was the lowest responsible bidder. The project Contract amount includes a $1,164,310.13 Base Bid, a $72,960.75 Alternate, and a $260,000 Contingency, totaling exactly $1,497,270.88.

The San Angelo City Council will vote to approve the deal Tuesday, April 6, at the regularly scheduled meeting.
