SAN ANGELO, TX — Some but not all of the customers previously identified on the "lower plane" of the water distribution system can join the customers on the "upper plane" and take showers safely Wednesday morning.
The water system, it was learned yesterday, was divided physically into two separate parts, the upper and lower planes. The suspected contamination of the City of San Angelo water system happened in the northeast side of town, in the lower plane of the pipes and pumps, leaving the the water taps on the upper plane (in green in map below) unmolested by the foul odor and suspected contamination, as confirmed by chemistry tests.
As of 11:30 p.m. Tuesday Feb. 9, some of those customers whose taps are located in a certain segment or area of the lower plane are cleared to use the water as normal.
The blue area was added to the safe water areas as of 11:30 p.m. Tuesday night:
The City of San Angelo and TCEQ identified and approved more of these lower plane areas that are released from the do-not-use water restrictions.
