City Council Approves Additional CARES Funding for Water Bills

SAN ANGELO, TX -- During the City Council meeting held on November 3rd, council members approved used CARES funds for water utility payments for low-income customers.

According to the city, back in January, the city and the Concho Valley Community Action Agency (CVCAA) came together to administer the Low-Income Assistance Program.

The original partnership allotted $50,000, but most of the funds were used by March.

During the latest meeting, the partnership agreement with CVCAA was amended to allow customers to receive financial assistance through this program twice per calendar year.

If a family received assistance earlier this year, they will be eligible for a second time. Eligibility is based upon the number of people living in a household and household income level.

The funds will only be applied to water utility payments and not non-City utilities such as electricity or gas.

Citizens who are interested in the program should contact the Concho Valley Community Action Agency for eligibility and program information.

Visit their website at cvcaa.org or call them at 325-653-2411 or 1-877-41-CVCAA. Their offices are currently closed to the public, so please call or visit their website for more information.
