Uber and Lyft Offer Discounted Rides On Election Day

SAN ANGELO, TX -- As the country prepares for Election Day, Uber and Lyft are offering voters an easier way to get to the polls.

According to Lyft's website on November 3rd riders can use the code 2020VOTE to take 50% off (up to $10) one ride to a polling place or ballot dropbox.

"During the last presidential election, it’s estimated that 15 million eligible voters didn’t go to the polls in large part because they didn’t have a way to get there," according to Lyft.

Uber is offering a similar discount to its customers. Riders can get half-off their round-trip to and from polling location for up to $14.

"We know that in 2016, 14% of eligible voters noted transportation as a barrier to voting," stated Uber. "That’s why we’re helping people find their polling locations with an in-app poll-finding feature."

In addition, the ride-share service is teaming up with Pizza to the Polls to send 250 food trucks to 25 different cities to deliver free food.
