We got our survey months ago in the mail. We completed the survey online months ago. This past Wednesday at 5 pm, an older woman showed up. We told her we had completed the survey already. She just kept rambling her memorized speech. I stopped her and told her our survey was complete and to get off my property. She again started her speech. Over a dozen times I told her to get off my property. Only after stating I was going to call the Sheriff and report her for trespassing did she leave. Then Thursday morning, I am at an appt and my wife is home when she hears our dogs barking like crazy. She goes out front and sees a car in our driveway but no person. Then she sees this lady walking around in my workshop. When my wife confronts her, she says she is a Census Surveyor and thought my shop was the house. My shop is a big silver building with two garage doors. It sits twenty feet to the west of my house with a front porch and a front door with outdoor lights on either side of the door. So either this lady is really dumb or was looking to steal something from my shop. My wife called the sheriff office to report the trespass and was told there was nothing they could do and gave her the number for the Census district office for our county. How the hell can some Census Surveyor come onto my property, rummage thru my shop and that not be criminal trespass, especially when the the last surveyor was told to get off my property and not come back or we would file charges for trespass?!! Way to go United States Census Bureau and Tom Green County Sheriff Department - just violate the hell out of ordinary citizens rights!

I think you are missing the obvious answer, which is they probably weren't actually from the census bureau, Maybe the first was sent to case the place, and the second showed up when there was a car missing from you not being there. On your second point, sucks you had to see how police are first hand, but yes, the police do not care about you or your family.
