Gas Leak Completely Shuts Down a Portion of Sherwood Way

SAN ANGELO, TX –  A gas leak Wednesday shut down one of San Angelo's busiest streets.

On June 17, firefighters with the San Angelo Fire Department were dispatched to lot east of Mitchel Buick GMC on Sherwood Way for the report of a gas leak.

Officers with the San Angelo Police Department were then called in to completely close the section of Sherwood way.

The section closed is from Oxford to Southwest Blvd.

Officials are asking the public to avoid the area until the scene is clear.

It is unclear how the gas leak occurred. Atmos Energy is currently on the scene repairing the gas line.
