Municipal Pool Opens July 4 and They Need Lifeguards

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – The City of San Angelo confirmed Friday that the pool will be opening for July 4. 

According to COSA, on June 5, Municipal Pool opens July 4th and lifeguards are needed. 

Here are the guidelines to be a lifeguard at the city pool. 

GENERAL PURPOSE:  Under general supervision of the Pool Manager and Assistant Pool Manager, the Lifeguard will be responsible for supervision of swimming activities at the Municipal Pool. It is the responsibility of the lifeguard to maintain and order discipline among the patrons by enforcing pool rules and constantly watching the public for its safety while in the aquatic facility. May assist in swim lessons.

DUTIES: Monitor and apply safety guidelines and proper rescue techniques to patrons in the aquatic facility. Administer first aid or CPR according to prescribed procedures and notify emergency medical personnel when necessary. Assist with front desk operation through positive public relations. Perform basic maintenance procedures to assure public safety. Clean blood, urine, and fecal matter from pools, decking, floors, walls, and sinks. Assist in the daily operation of the Municipal Pool including, but not limited to: opening and closing of the facility, assisting guests, providing programming information, and collecting fees. Attend all regularly scheduled training sessions and audits. Other duties as assigned. Work in cooperation with the Pool Manager and Assistant Pool Manager. Schedule could include up to 40 hours per week. Hours will vary, Sunday and Saturday, 7:00 am to 11:00 pm. Must be able to work flexible hours, weekends, and holidays.

MINIMUM STANDARDS & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Must be at least 16 years of age. Must be able to lift 75 lbs. Must be able to pass physical test(s). American Red Cross Lifeguard or Shallow Water Lifeguard certification required. CPR and First Aid certification required. Water Safety Instructor Certification preferred. Ability to perform strenuous duties for extended periods of time. Work in extreme weather conditions. A valid driver license with a good driving record or reliable transportation is required.
