Call to Arms Prayer Rally Set for Tonight at SAPD Headquarters

SAN ANGELO, TX — A second rally will be held this evening at the steps of the San Angelo Police Department. The Call to Arms Prayer Rally will feature pastors from the San Angelo Area, community leaders, businesses, and prayer warriors.

The rally, which is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. will kick-off with a welcome from Pastor Ralph Dawkins, of Christian House of Prayer. Mayor Brenda Gunter, Chief Frank Carter, and San Angelo clergy will also address the crowd.

According to a Facebook post created by organizer Shannon Carpenter, the rally will also feature a variety of prayers including:

  • Prayer for the City of San Angelo
  • Prayer for Police Department (led by SAPD Chaplin Gary Jenkins)
  • Prayer for Sons (led by Michelle Blaylock)
  • Prayer for George Floyd and other victims
  • Prayer for Social Justice in the city, state, and nation
  • Prayer for Unity in the community

According to the Carpenter, Pastor Dawkins and his wife, Gwen Dawkins, met with Chief Carter and asked it would be possible to host the Call to Arms Prayer Rally at SAPD headquarters to which Chief Carter “gladly accepted with open arms.”

The rally will feature live music and prayer in addition to the speakers. Coldwater bottles and masks will be available to those who do not have one and attendants are asked to social distance. Chairs will be provided to those who need them and attendants are welcome to bring their own.

According to the post, “any kind of violence will not be tolerated. This is a peaceful rally and God will be at the center.”

A live stream of the Call to Arms Prayer Rally will be available on the Christian House of Prayer Facebook page.

Not everyone is a theologian, Expat.

The few times I have visited these kinds of gatherings, there is a kind of blood ritual in which people are said to ingest the flesh of the deity to gain its power.

Everyone is very somber with a pained expression. My understanding is that only some people are allowed to take the power of this ritual?

It will be interesting to see how this is done with a large gathering.
