Share The Road: May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month

SAN ANGELO, TX – May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month and TxDOT is working to remind motorists to check their mirrors and blind spots before changing lanes.

According to SAPD, on average a Texas motorcyclist dies every single day. In 2018, 417 riders lost their lives and 920 were seriously injured in crashes.

TxDOT has created a PSA to remind motorists to share the road.

More than half of fatal motorcycle crashes result from collisions with other vehicles when drivers simply don’t see the motorcycle or misjudge its distance and speed.

“Motorcycles are more difficult to see, so take extra care. Look twice...there's a life riding on it.”
