Celebrate Earth Day From Home

SAN ANGELO, TX – On Wednesday, April 22nd the San Angelo Friends of the Environment will be celebrating Earth Day’s 50th Anniversary.

“Although this year’s necessary social distancing makes it impossible to celebrate in person with others,” said SAFE. “We still want to recognize the amazing history of Earth Day.”

SAFE will be highlighting Earth Day accomplishments on social media and provide suggestions on how everyone can do their part to make Earth “a greener place to be.”

SAFE is committed to improving the impact it can have on the local community.

“Although we no longer operate a recycling collection facility, we recognize the need for continued education about recycling and other conservation activities,” said SAFE. “Our footprint and impact may be smaller today than 2 years ago, but we intend to regrow our organization into an educational resource for our community.

SAFE will be offering an Earth Day activity book for younger children that can be downloaded at www.saferrr.org. They are also developing curriculum boxes for local teachers to use in their classrooms to encourage the younger generation to their part to protect the Earth.

Those who are looking for recycling options in San Angelo visit the SAFE website: www.saferrr.org.
