SAN ANGELO, TX – Even the cold weather can not place a damper on the San Angelo National Prayer Breakfast happening Thursday morning.
The annual event, held at the McNease Convention Center, will feature a very special guest speaker. Actress, author, speaker, and life coach Lisa Whelchel will be joining the community for a morning that uplifts prayer and faith.
The Littlefield, TX native began her acting career at the age of 13 as the Mousketeer for “The New Mickey Mouse Club.” Lisa is best known for her starring role as Blair Warner on NBC’s “The Facts of Life” for nine years.
She returned to the world of television after landing a role in Tyler Perry’s “A Madea Christmas.” She has also starred in two Hallmark Channel’s Original Movies: “For Better or For Worse” and “Hearts of Spring.”
Lisa began her career as an author with the debut of her book, ‘’Creative Correction” which was released back in October 2000 and sold over 200,000 copies. Since then she has written a plethora of books including:
- “The Facts of Life and Other Lessons My Father Taught Me”
- “The ADVENTure of Christmas”
- “The Busy Mom’s Guide” Series
- “Friendship for Grownups”
Lisa has also cultivated her talents as an international speaker and had the opportunity to tour with “Women of Faith,” “Extraordinary Women,” and “Women of Joy.”
The event will kick off at 6:00 a.m with a continental breakfast and the program will begin at 6:30 a.m. The prayer breakfast will feature music provided by the Lincoln Middle School Mariachi Band. Tickets will be available for sale at the door and a $5.00 suggested donation can be made at the time of purchase.
The presentation of the colors will be carried out by the GAFB Color Guard and the national anthem will be interpreted by Jay Weatherby, David Bailey, and Joe Lee Ynojosa. Lt. Col Robert E. Borger, the 17th Wing Chaplain at GFAB, will lead attendees in reciting the pledge of allegiance.
The program will feature special music, reading of Scripture, and prayers for the nation and our leaders.
The event is scheduled to conclude at 7:30 a.m.
