SAN ANGELO, TX — Aaron Vannoy, former Planning and Development Administrator for the City of San Angelo, was promoted to Assistant Director of Planning & Development on Sept. 16, 2019. He had served in his previous role since October 2017.
Vannoy’s primary role will include assisting applicants in the development process, troubleshooting issues and complaints, recommending improvements to the development process, and serving as the primary point of contact for applicants. He will also help develop departmental goals, assist with the budget, review policies and fill in for the director as needed.
Prior to joining the City, Vannoy spent 10 years in Abilene managing nonprofits such as the Big Country, YMCA, Boys & Girls Clubs and American Red Cross. During that time, he also served as the City of Abilene’s sanitarian for two years, and then as the animal services manager for eight years. After that, he was the facility management manager at the University of South Dakota.
“Each stop was about caring for a community’s needs and helping find solutions to those needs and processes,” Vannoy said.
Vannoy graduated from Abilene Christian University with a bachelor’s degree in biology and education, and he holds a master’s degree in education from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene.
