WATCH: Local Foster Grandparents And Senior Companions Share More Than Time

 

SAN ANGELO, TX - The first Tuesday of April has been designated nationally as volunteer appreciation day. The Concho Valley Council Governments took a moment to honor its many foster grandparents and senior companions in an honorary lunch. 

The foster grandparents and senior companions programs are in place to give back and allow older citizens to stay active in the community.

Foster Grandparents are paired with disadvantaged children in head start and public schools while senior companions visit elderly citizens in their homes to assist them with non-medical activities such as meal preparation, running errands, along with emotional support through friendship.
