SAN ANGELO, TX - For years Alex and Aubrey Trufant have made a name for themselves as two of the premier tattoo artists in West Texas. But the Trufant name doesn't appear to be going anywhere when it comes to the tattoo world.
Eleven-year-old Olivia, the daughter of Trufant Bros. Tattoo artist Aubrey Trufant is steadily making a name for herself. The young artist is taking her pen to paper skills and applying them in the tattoo shop.
"I learn something new every time, and I remember stuff too," said 11-year-old Olivia.
As a 10-year-old Olivia performed her first tattoo on her dad exposing her to another level of art.

"It was like a couple of months after my birthday and I was like 'hey dad' you said after I turned 10 I could tattoo you and he was down for it so I was like I'm going to do a butterfly on you," said Olivia.
According to Aubrey, Olivia's presence around the tattoo shop continues to grow to create much more than a father-daughter bond.
"It's great to see your child grow," said Trufant. "There's no better person to teach her than me. I'm glad to be a part of it, and I'm glad to watch her grow. She deserves a lot of the credit herself."
Having performed small tattoos of a butterfly, cactus, and most recently a jalapeno, Olivia is quick to point out that her inspiration to be a great artist is her dad.
"I feel like I've improved a lot because of my dad," said Olivia. "He's always right there if I ask him for help. I'm thankful to have such an artistic dad because I get to pursue those types of things in my own way."
For some parents exposing their children to permanent art on one's body might be discouraged, but when the family business is tattooing the conversation is a little different.
"I would never trust a tattoo artist that doesn't have any tattoos," said Olivia's dad Aubrey. "Here she is at a tender age learning from a skilled professional. There's no better way to start off. I hope I have the honor of lacing her with her first tattoo."
For the young 11-year-old tattoo artist her vision is to create art and is enjoying every moment.
"It's not like every time I get to tattoo," said Olivia. "It's something I have to cherish. It's like drawing on someone's body. You're giving a piece of yourself to them."
