SAN ANGELO, TX – On Saturday, Sept. 29, the San Angelo Police Department stated that there is a phone scam from individuals saying they are Mexican gang members.
Several local restaurants have been receiving these calls the past few days.
The SAPD posted an alert on their Facebook page at 3:13 p.m. on Saturday.
The callers have made violent threats of money or other items are not handed over.
If you become a victim of a similar crime, please call 911 and give the operator as much information as you can as quickly as possible.
If anyone has any information or have previously been a victim of similar crimes, please call Public Safety Communications at 325-657-4315.

That is a new one. I get calls from scammers and telemarketers every day...soon will run out of space for blocked numbers. I wish I could press a button and blow up their phones...

PermalinkIt's advantageous to the (legit) telemarketer if you hang up on them, and allow them to move onto the next mark, asap.
I waste as much of their time as I can, asking stupid questions, having them repeat themselves, or have them go through an entire process of signing me up for whatever garbage their selling, only to decide against it minutes later.
Inappropriate propositions are fun also.
As for the 'Mexican gangster' thing, I simply cannot take people who demand charity, seriously. If you're a broke gangbanger who cannot articulate a coherent thought in intelligible English, I'm just not that worried about you.
