As Another Heat Wave Looms, is There Relief Coming this Winter?
SAN ANGELO, TX-- Another hot period is sweeping through the Concho Valley.
The Concho Valley does have a 20 percent chance for rain this afternoon with isolated thunderstorms expected to move through the area.
However, temperatures are forecasted to reach above 100 degrees Thursday through Saturday. Temps will stay in the mid to high 90s through next week.
While the summer has been extremely hot, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s meteorologists are forecasting a wetter winter.
In their most recent early winter prediction, NOAA is expecting an El Nino effect during the winter of 2018.
NOAA says that means there will be a 40 to 50 percent chance above average precipitation.
The El Nino weather will also mean above average temperatures through fall and early winter.
This forecast hasn’t always held true, as last year’s model called for average precipitation across most of the country.
