SAN ANGELO, TX — You will not be able to pay your water bill online, City Public Information Officer Anthony Wilson said late Friday afternoon. The City has temporarily suspended online payment options on the Click2Gov platform because of suspicious reports from some water customers.
Wilson said the City’s payment gateway provided by Click2Gov is PCI compliant but the City is concerned because of the anecdotal reports that credit card numbers may have been compromised.
This is a very conservative and proactive measure the City took today in the temporarily suspension of the online payment feature, Wilson explained.
“Water customers who make online payments are advised to monitor their credit card accounts for unauthorized charges,” Wilson advised.
“Our third-party vendor is analyzing data to determine the extent of any security breaches. As soon as the City knows more, we will report that to our customers,” he said.
You can still pay your bill while the online payments system is under maintenance. Water bill payments can be made by calling 325-657-4323. Payments can also be made via cash or check at City Hall Annex from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays.
A 24-hour dropbox is also available at that location.
