Historic Unveiling of Statues in San Angelo Draws International Crowd

SAN ANGELO, TX -- Several hundred area residents joined international visitors in San Angelo over the weekend for the tenth Annual Lady in Blue Celebration or the once in a lifetime unveiling of historic statues along the Concho River culminating the three day Historic Beginnings of San Angelo Conference.

At the heart of the celebration was the unveiling of two larger-than-life statues depicting the Lady in Blue who brought the Christian faith to the Jumano natives in what is now San Angelo in the 1620’s.  The beautiful bronze sculptures are located along the Concho River near the celebration bridge. Local, state and international dignitaries were on hand for the unveiling.

We’ll have an in depth story on the statues and the celebration on Monday.
