'Clemens Strong' Benefit Underway at Farmer's Market Pavilion

SAN ANGELO, TX — Today, at the Farmer’s Market Pavilion, 609 South Oakes Street, the Clemens Family Benefit is underway. Three members of the Clemens family were killed in a head-on crash southeast of Sterling City April 7. The dad, James (Jim), wife Karisa, and their newborn daughter were killed. Four other children were badly injured. The benefit was put on by the Liberty Tax family, where Jim Clemens worked at the Knickerbocker location for years.

The benefit is called “Clemens Strong” and it is to support the children and family members who are hurting during this trying time.

“We have been here setting up and making brisket since 8:30 this morning,” said Jennifer Jackson, a Liberty Tax co-worker and benefit coordinator. “We are working hard to raise money for the remaining family members who survived the tragic crash.”

The Farmer’s Market is full of people wanting to help any way they can. Brisket plates are being sold as a way to help pay medical expenses for the family and anything else they might need during this hard time.

About 30 pans of brisket still remain from the whopping 120 briskets they started with this morning. The briskets were estimated to provide 2,400 plates of food. The plates are served with the brisket and two sides for $10 per plate.

Sides include potato salad, rice, or beans and your choice of tortilla or bead with a drink.

There is also a bake sale and t-shirt sale underway at the pavilion as an additional way to raise money.

Anyone who would like to donate, can do so at the pavilion as well.
