Military Tilt-Rotor Osprey to Land at Goodfellow AFB Wednesday

GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, TX – A CV-22 Osprey from the 20th Special Operations Squadron at Cannon Air Force Base will land at Goodfellow Air Force Base at 12 p.m. Wednesday, April 11 and depart in the afternoon. The purpose of the visit is to provide students assigned to Goodfellow AFB an orientation on special operations missions and aircraft they will support after graduation.

The CV-22 is a tilt rotor aircraft that combines the take-off and landing qualities of a helicopter with the fuel efficiency and speed of a turboprop aircraft. Its mission is to conduct long-range infiltration, exfiltration and resupply missions for special operations forces.

Members of the community may notice the low flying aircraft as it approaches and leaves Goodfellow Air Force Base and should not be alarmed.
