SAN ANGELO, TX – Is there anything more iconic than fireworks on the 4th of July? San Angelo has great traditions that bring the community and tourists together to celebrate this great country and it’s independence. The Pops concert at the Bill Naylor Riverstage downtown kicks off the holiday festivities on July 3rd with an incredible orchestra performance timed with a beautiful lightshow of fireworks, then on July 4th a firework show and celebration on Lake Nasworthy syncopated with music from Pyro Shows of Texas aired on 103.1 fm, ends the holiday celebration with – a bang.
The fireworks show at the lake, “Nasworthy Nights”, presented by the Lake Nasworthy HOA with the help of sponsorships, usually draws around 40,000 people to the area to watch the largest light show in all of the Concho Valley each year. From the many tourists who come to share the holiday and merriment with family, to those who are merely lake lovers that come to celebrate and see the amazing display. Visitors enjoy the holiday visiting the state park, iconic downtown, and all the fantastic attractions for tourists in San Angelo.
What few people know is what goes into putting together the Nasworthy Nights firework show at the lake each year since 2008. While it is common knowledge that dark o clock on the fourth means find somewhere to watch the spectacle, or fight the traffic to get in and out of the lake area for a great vantage to watch from, few consider the incredible work that goes into the event each year to draw tourist dollars and allow San Angeloans a display to inspire nationalism at its best.
Each year there must be volunteers to coordinate, pyrotechnics to plan, program, and purchase. There are so many more tasks than can be believed, unless you have been part of an event of this scale before. One of the hardest parts – financing. Fundraising to pay for those pyrotechnics etc is all imperative so the 40,000 or so patrons and all those around the city, from their own special perch, can enjoy the show.
From the wonderful businesses that donate to sponsor and support the traditional show, to the individuals who donate it is truly a community event and celebration. In return for their donation, the Lake Nasworthy HOA, which is made of people who own the land their home is on at the lake, put together an incredible experience each year as a thank you to all who enjoy Lake Nasworthy, and as a tribute to celebrate our nation’s independence. This year they will have Funky Monkey for entertainment, bounce houses from Gravity Express, and a catered dinner at the ASU Lakehouse. You can come as early as 6 p.m. and enjoy the festivities as well as the best seats to watch the fireworks from as the Wall Volunteer Firefighters watch over in case there is any trouble.
This year is the first time ever that in lieu of donation you can purchase a ticket to enjoy the VIP Nasworthy Nights Celebration. Tickets can be purchased at ______embed link to ticket purchasing here________. There will only be up to 150 tickets sold individually because the rest go to the fantastic businesses and individuals that sponsor the event and make it all possible.
