SAN ANGELO, TX — Concho Valley Paws is having a FREE adoption event at the Animal Shelter located at 3142 US-67 near Howard College.
Not only are the pups free to adopt, but cats are free too! Thanks to Marianna Mesusan, who adopted a cat from the shelter and fell so in love that she wants everyone to find their forever friend. So, Marianna is covering ALL cat adoption fees for the whole month of April!
The dogs are free for the first 20 people to come into the shelter today and adopt! Last month 174 animals were adopted and it was amazing. Unfortunately, there was a large influx of dogs for reasons unknown, and to prevent euthanizing of dogs for space they are doing the free adoption event.
Jenie Wilson, the Executive Director of Concho Valley Paws, said “Between the adoptions and the transports, we usually do very well at making sure euthanasia is not in the picture, but we got a large influx of dogs recently.”
“This is a municipal shelter and if more animals are dropped off, we have to make room,” explained Jenie Wilson. “But that is why we have events like this, because we think every dog deserves to find their forever home.”
Yesterday, 13 dogs were adopted and today Concho Valley Paws is hoping for the same thing because it would give them more space for other dogs being surrendered or brought in.
The adoption event lasts until 5:00 p.m. today. There is another adoption event this Saturday at the Petco on Sunset Drive from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. So go and adopt a doggo or catto today!
