Freezing Rain and Flooding Create Driving Hazards Today

 

SAN ANGELO, TX -- Moderate to heavy rainfall this morning has caused some street flooding in San Angelo and freezing rain is forecast throughout the day.  The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for freezing rain for all of West Central Texas.  

A Winter Weather Advisory for freezing rain means periods of freezing rain are imminent or occurring. freezing rain may cause driving to become extremely dangerous...so be prepared to use caution when traveling.  The advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Freezing rain. Ice accumulations of one tenth to one quarter of an inch. along and north of a line from Mertzon, to Eden, to Brownwood. This includes San Angelo and Brownwood.

Ice will accumulate on elevated surfaces such as bridges and overpasses. Sidewalks and outside stairwells may become slick.
