SAN ANGELO, TX -- (COSA Press Release) The effort to improve College Hills Boulevard between Loop 306 and Valleyview Boulevard begins Monday, Feb. 5, with the start of construction.
The work will involve grinding away the roadway’s asphalt and replacing it with a smoother driving surface – a process known as mill and overlay. Construction is projected to last until late summer.
The project is part of an $80 million, 10-year effort to rebuilt and repave San Angelo’s worst streets. The first project, on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, is nearly complete. Bids to rebuild Bell Street will be presented to the City Council Feb. 20.
During construction on College Hills Boulevard, drivers will encounter lane closures. Traffic control signage will help direct motorists through the construction, which is scheduled to occur from 7 a.m.-5 p.m.
A full closure of one or two days of College Hills at Valleyview is anticipated in late March. The closure will be announced in advance. In the next two-year phase of the 10-year plan, College Hills will be repaved from Loop 306 to Avenue N.
