Weather Service Issues Red Flag Warning for the Concho Valley

SAN ANGELO, TX -- The National Weather Service Office in San Angelo has issued a Red Flag Warning for the Concho Valley.

According to the NWS, a Red Flag Warning is now in effect until 6 p.m. this evening for the Concho Valley and portions of the Heartland.  This is mainly north of a San Angelo to Brownwood line

The warning was issued because south winds at 20 to 25 miles per hour with possible gusts over 30 miles per hour will combine with humidity falling below 20 percent will cause any fires that develop to spread rapidly.

Outdoor burning is discouraged.

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now....or will shortly. A combination of strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
