Cold Front Brings High Winds and Fire Danger; Red Flag Warning Issued

 

SAN ANGELO, TX -- High winds and low humidities have combined across most of West Texas as a strong cold front blows through Sunday prompting the National Weather Service to issue a Red Flag Warning.

According to the NWS, Winds from the west at 20 to 30 mph, with possible gusts in the 35 to 40 mph range. While Humidity...15 to 20 percent. Impacts...Fires will likely spread rapidly.

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now....or will shortly. A combination of strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.

The strong winds will create hazardous driving conditions, mainly Sunday afternoon, and especially for high profile vehicles. In addition,strong winds and dry air will combine to create critical fire weather conditions, for most of West Central Texas, mainly this afternoon.
