SAN ANGELO, TX --The first annual San Angelo Firefighters Ball takes place Friday, November 17, at McNease Convention Center. The black tie event begins at 7:30 p.m.
The purpose of the Ball is to raise funds for the San Angelo Firefighters Foundation whose mission “is to show appreciation for the service of Fire Fighters, EMS, and rescue personnel through awards, events, and education and support in times of need.”
Firefighters, EMS, and rescue personnel are dedicated responders who rush into service when any in our community call for help.
According to Mason Matthews, Vice-President of Local 886, “almost 14,000 emergency calls are handled each year, with peak calling time between 9 a.m. to 6 p.m."
Members of these groups respond 24 hours a day, sometimes sacrificing family time to take care of this community. The jobs are stressful, and through the San Angelo Fire Fighters Foundation, responders have access to support that embraces them and their families, and demonstrates the close comradery there is between them.
Tickets are $50 for the Ball. Call Chief Todd Sanford at 325.657.4335.
Donations to the Foundation can be made by visiting their website at www.sanangelofirefightersfoundation.org. Saturday is the rally day for online donations. If you make a donation, please comment on facebook.
The time for charitable donations for tax purposes ends soon!
