Funeral Arrangements Set for Sgt. Dietz

SAN ANGELO, TX — The funeral services for Sgt. Fred “Freddy” Dietz were announced Tuesday afternoon. Johnson’s Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

A rosary will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 7 W. Avenue N, Wednesday, Nov. 8, at 7 p.m.

A funeral service takes place at the Junell Center on the Angelo State University campus on Thursday at 11 a.m. Internment is at the Belvedere Cemetery afterwards.

Sgt. Dietz was found dead at the San Angelo Police Station yesterday morning just before 11 a.m. His death has shocked the community as he was described as the most well know and liked police officer in the department.

His body was sent to Lubbock for autopsy yesterday. It returned this morning with members of all law enforcement agencies escorting the procession down S. Bryant to Beauregard Ave., ending at Johnson’s Funeral Home. The procession is the traditional way law enforcement officers pay tribute to one of their own who has fallen.
