Central Theater Department to Put on Charlie Brown Musical

SAN ANGELO, TX-- The Central High School Theatre Department will be putting on a musical Nov. 9, 11, and 12.

The show is titled "You're a good man, Charlie Brown".

The musical is a compilation of the famous "Peanuts" cartoon strips set to music.

"Its not your typical musical," said Central Senior Joshua Vetter, who plays the lead of Charlie Brown. "Its not like 'Oh here's one long story'. Its just like you're watching the little cartoon strips and music is introduced."

The theatre department has worked on this play every day since the first week of September, according to Vetter.

"I feel really confident," Vetter said.

Central Senior Ashlyn Evans plays the role of Snoopy in the show.

"Snoopy's really dramatic," Evans said. "He tries to make everything about him. He's been a really fun character to get in to."

Junior Kaden Wright plays Linus.

"[Linus] is the brainiac with a blanket," Wright said. "He goes around telling facts."

Central Theatre Director Laura Smith is happy with her student's commitment to this production.

"This is the one of most committe group of students I've had in a musical," Smith said. "Because I haven't had anyone throughout this process that hasn't given 100 percent."

Opening night for the musical is Thursday, Nov. 9 at 7:30 pm. The group will put on two shows on Saturday Nov. 11, with the first show starting at 2:30 pm and the second at 7:30. They will close out the show on Sunday, Nov. 12 with one performance at 2:30.

Tickets are eight dollars.
