Child in Drowning Incident in Lake Nasworthy

SAN ANGELO, TX — San Angelo police confirmed that a child was rescued from a drowning incident in Lake Nasworthy at the Goodfellow Air Force Base Recreation Camp. According to police, a large gathering of off-duty U.S. Military personnel and their families was ongoing at the facility when a child was discovered drowning in the water.

Military personnel had already rescued the child out of the lake and were performing CPR when police arrived. As soon as San Angelo EMS arrived, paramedics took over.

An ambulance rushed the child to a local hospital with lights and sirens, leaving the rec camp at 7:30 p.m.

After the ambulance left, the mood at the camp was sad and tense. Media were pushed back into the parking lot away from the scene. The child’s current condition is unknown.

Police did not know the exact age of the drowning victim, though witnesses at the scene said the child was a toddler.

Police are expected to provide an update once more information is gathered.
