SAN ANGELO, TX – Traffic light poles are now up on Sherwood Way between Wal-Mart and the new H-E-B.
The poles went up this week and the signal lights are not functional yet.
The Texas Department of Transportation is reconstructing the stretch of U.S. 67 from Loop 306 to Southland Blvd to accommodate traffic flow into the new H-E-B and the existing Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club and Lowes stores.
The new H-E-B is scheduled to open this fall. Walls are up on the new grocery store and the canopy covering the gas pumps is also visible.
TxDOT has installed curbing and sidewalks on both sides of the roadway from the loop to Southland. The project cost approximately $2.012 million. A state grant of $1.812 million is funding most of the construction with $200,000 coming from the Leon Capital Group which is developing the new H-E-B site.
