SAN ANGELO, TX - In a surprise ceremony held on Thursday, June 15, San Angelo Police Chief Frank Carter presented a special Merit Award to KLST and KSAN news Director, David Wagner.
On January 13, Wagner answered a call from Gary Ray Wright, who told Wagner he was going to initiate a police standoff. After speaking with Wright, Wagner called San Angelo Police to warn them about Wright’s threat.
Following the conversation with Wagner, Gary Wright and Brenda Joyce Wright set their house on fire in a premeditated plot to ambush and kill responding San Angelo police.
The Department is grateful for Wagner’s quick action, which played an instrumental role in thwarting this attack on local first responders.
