Elks Feed 500 Veterans Celebrating Memorial Day Weekend

SAN ANGELO, TX — Just after 1 p.m. Saturday, the local Elks Lodge 1880 expected to feed over 500 active duty and retired veterans today for its annual Free Veterans Lunch held every Memorial Day weekend.

The Elks served barbecue with all the fixings to honor veterans. The tradition is growing. In 2014, about 400 plates were served. The Elks were taking $10 per plate donations, but it was not required. Serving stopped at 3 p.m.

The Elks Lodge is located at the corner of Ave. Q and S. Chadbourne St. The next big event the lodge will hold is their annual Chili Cookoff on June 17.
