SAN ANGELO, TX — Outer Rim Collective, now located at 1612 W Beauregard, will be handing out free comics at their first annual Free Comic Book Day event on May 6.
They will be giving out a variety of select comic books while supplies last starting with a 10 comic book per person limit, according to the Outer Rim Collective press release.
The store will also host Scarlet Knight in cosplay as Dark Phoenix, who will be available for photos and autographs. A limited edition print of the Dark Phoenix will be available for purchase during this event only, the press release stated
The event will begin at 10 a.m. with various activities and give-a-ways until 8 p.m.
A children’s cosplay contest will start at 12:00 p.m. and will be judged by Scarlet Knight and the folks at Outer Rim Collective. The adult cosplay competition will start at 1 p.m.
Prizes will be awarded to the winners of each category, according to the press release. A raffle will also take place during the event.
Throughout the day customers can purchase raffle tickets for $1 each or seven for $5 to win an original CGC (Certified Guaranty Company) graded copy of the 1980 Uncanny X-Men #135 featuring a Dark Phoenix cover.
The winner will be announced that evening at 7:00 p.m.. Participants do not need to be present to win, according to the press release. Partial proceeds from this raffle will be donated to cancer survivor, Holli Perkins’ medical relief fund.
