Homeowners Association Makes Sonar Equipment Donation to Lake Police

SAN ANGELO, TX - Wednesday afternoon, San Angelo Police Officials met with Lake Nasworthy Homeowners Association President Ted Logan for a special dedication at the Department’s newly constructed SAPD Boathouse, located at 2022 Cat Tail Lane.

Public Information Officer Tracy Gonzales said the Association purchased and donated a Lowrance HDS12 Gen3 sonar unit and supporting equipment, which will allow Lake and Park Police to see a three-dimensional picture of what is beneath and peripheral to a patrol boat.

"The state-of-the-art unit is also equipped with GPS, which allows officers to track where they have searched as well as mark locations of interest," said Gonzalez.

She also said, "Although the system is mounted to one of the patrol boats, the equipment is designed to be portable, thus allowing officers to take the equipment onto smaller watercraft for use in narrow, shallow waterways."

For SAPD, the donation comes at a perfect time, for Lake Recreation facilities are expected to fill for the Easter Holiday.

"The Department would like to thank the members of the Association for their continued support and dedication to lake safety for residents and visitors," said Gonzalez.
