Request from First Responders: Stop Discarding Cigarettes from Vehicles

 

SAN ANGELO, TX - This afternoon the San Angelo Police Department sent out a request notice from first responders who are urging residents to stop discarding cigarettes from vehicles due to today's extreme fire conditions. 

"First responders have responded to six grass fires today," said the alert. "The red flag warning remains in effect until 7 p.m. tonight due to extreme dry, windy conditions. "

Here are the expected weather conditions: 

* Wind...Sustained west to southwest winds at 20 to 30 mph with
gusts to 40 mph

* Humidity...15 to 20 percent

* Fuels...Dry

* Impacts...Any fires that develop will spread rapidly. Outdoor
burning is highly discouraged.
