SAPD Reminds Rodeo Attendees to Lock Their Car Doors

SAN ANGELO, TX – The 2017 Stock Show and Rodeo starts today, and with all the excitement and fun times ahead, many people will forget to keep their possessions locked in their cars.

Tracy Gonzalez, Public Information Officer for the San Angelo Police Department, wants to remind rodeo attendees to lock their car doors at all times during the festivities. Given the high traffic of vehicles during the rodeo, many thefts will occur by suspects just walking down rows of lots and checking each car door as they go.

Gonzalez said so many car thefts can be reported between the SAPD and the Tom Green County Sheriff Office, and an exact number of thefts that happened the previous year would be almost impossible to track.

“Remember to always make sure that those vehicles are locked, that windows are up, and that [you] are hiding [your] valuables from plain view,” Gonzalez said.

Having valuables in sight will make the vehicle stand out to those attempting to break into cars.
