Most Common Calls Received by TGSO and SAPD New Year's Weekend

SAN ANGELO, TX - Last year was a busy one for local law enforcement in San Angelo, and San Angelo Police Department (SAPD) and Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office (TGSO) provided LIVE! with the list of calls for service received on the final weekend of the year. Dates for the calls include Dec. 30, 2016 – Jan. 1, 2017.

Because of the amount of calls reported, 288 total between both agencies (283 for SAPD and 5 for TGCSO), we decided to focus on the most common occurrences.

For the TGSO, there were three calls made on Dec. 31, and two calls recorded on Jan. 1.

Two people were arrested on New Year’s Eve for outstanding warrants; another incident was reported for an Accident Involving Damage to Vehicle >=$200.

A few people got off easy through recognizance bonds, which are written promises to appear in court without paying a bond. One of these individuals, Alonzo Robinson, was arrested and released on Dec. 31 for an outstanding warrant, and, according to jail records, has two charges, CPFx4 (Capias Pro Fine Warrant) and Contempt of Court. His bond was set at $300.

Crystal Valdez, also booked and released on Dec. 31, was another to take advantage of a recognizance bond despite previously failing to appear in court. Valdez had two offenses on Feb. 22, 2016 for Speeding and Driving While License Invalid, and one offense on March 14, 2016 for Violate Promise to Appear (Uniform Act).

As for New Year’s Day offenses, many arrestees attempted to evade arrest and engage in criminal mischief.

The SAPD, as usual, had a variety of calls for the New Year’s weekend. The top four calls included officers out with a subject, fireworks, receiving info and traffic stops.
